NACo Prescription Discount Card Program now offering greater benefits

The Association of Indiana Counties (AIC) is very excited to be part of the new NACo Prescription Discount Drug Card offering. This new program provides the county with an option to retain $1.00 for the county general fund every time the NACo Prescription Discount Drug Card is used in your county to help citizens receive discounts on their prescription drugs. The company that provides the NACo card, CVS, will distribute the program administration fee to the county on a quarterly basis.

Clerks' Liability Bills Pass Through Committee Hearings

SB 29 (County Clerk liability) was heard in Senate Committee on Corrections, Criminal, and Civil Matters on Tuesday, January 5, 2010 at 9:00 a.m. Authored by Sen. Connie Lawson (R-Danville), the bill passed unanimously 10-0. SB 29 provides that a circuit court clerk is not personally liable for acts or omissions in the performance of the clerk's duties absent gross negligence or intentional disregard of the responsibilities of the office of clerk. SB 29 will proceed to 2nd Reading in the Senate.

The Association of Indiana Counties (AIC) has produced a joint podcast with other associations that have concerns about property tax caps being placed in the constitution. The Indiana General Assembly may vote on the amendment this week.
